Why We Need and Want to Read the Bible?

I will try to present some answers which are not necessarily in order, cumulative, and entirely the ideal ones. I will use some analogy to drive a point.

1. To gain knowledge

If we are fascinated in science because we learn a lot of things, shouldn't we be more interested to read and to know the Word of God because it contains wisdom and knowledge?

2. It is a requirement

If those of us who easily get tired when reading, read the entire novel in just a month because it is a requirement in school, shouldn't we read the Bible because God requires us too?

3. It concerns us

If we spend time researching a particular disease not because we want to know about it, but because the symptoms we are experiencing affects our physical body and it concerns us the most, shouldn't we read the Bible because our eternal life is a major concern?

4. To know the truth

If we are so interested in history and in finding out the truth, shouldn't we read the Bible because it contains the absolute truth from God?

5. To know Him

If we try every means to find information about somebody we are interested to know like a singer or just someone we would like to meet, shouldn't we be excited in reading the Bible so that we may know Him?

6. To know His commandments

If we read our student handbooks and the rules and regulations in traffic and in our society to avoid punishments and penalties, shouldn't we be worried for not reading the Bible... just to make sure we don't violate His commandments?

7. To share the Good News

If students immediately share to their friends that classes are suspended today after making sure that the source of that news is real and certain, should we not as Christians share the Good News to all as often as we could, using the Bible as the only source whenever we preach?

8. We love God

If we read a letter given by someone we love over and over again and even able to recall his or her lines, shouldn't we read and memorize His Word because we love Him who loves us?
