True Desire

It's hard to be a Christian when we are still clinging on to so many things where worldly life dominates our life. Are we trusting too much in our money, our position, our career, our talents, our friends, and our dreams? Are we slaves of our own desires?

We should not only believe Christ is our savior, but we need to have complete faith and trust in Christ. We no longer fear death, suffering, and difficulty because nothing is more satisfying and valuable than to be under Christ. The offer of happiness, health, wealth, belongingness, achievements, and recognitions on earth are completely nothing when compared to Christ. Though many will agree that Christ is definitely above those things, we still fear so much of having to surrender these things.

Did we follow Christ that we may gain access to or be given the gifts of wealth, happiness, health, and all those worldly opportunities and comfort in life? Is Christ offering these to us when He died on the cross? Christ told the rich man to sell everything and follow Him. Christ died for our sins. He offered His life to those who believed that we might be saved from God's wrath. What great love and offering it is, incomparable to those earthly offers.

Who says that all God wants for each one of us is to be happy, prosperous, healthy, and successful and that all we need is to believe in Him and in ourselves that we can achieve them? Is it not these things the ones Satan offered to Christ when He was in the mountain fasting for forty days? Is it not what Satan was telling Christ that He can do this and that, to ignore and to rebel against God?

Having been a slave of Christ and having submitted our lives to Him, we desire to accept and to follow His will rather than our own. As though we value our lives that we hope for our safety today, we also surrender ourselves to His will even if He wills that we die today in a car accident for His purpose.
